Tide Pod Pumpkins

I had to make the stems for the pumpkins. I used three different colors of Sculpey to make the stems. The tan is the center. Then I flattened the hazelnut around the tan. I then rolled the suede brown up real thin. I broke this into four sections and added on four sides. Then I rolled it up slightly and twisted it for the twisted look. Then I added the indents. I baked the stems for one hour at 275 degrees.

I went to Dollar Tree and bought battery operated lights. I took the globes off of them so they were just white.

I then started to work on the tide pods containers. I had to minimize the patterns to fit on the containers. I cut the extra off of the pic and taped it to the container. Then I started cutting out the pattern with an exacto knife. I had to use caution with how to cut it out. cut out the smaller pieces first then go up to the larger one. After the pattern is cut out, I rechecked the pattern to make sure there was no pieces of extra left.

I didn't like the sharp edges. I cut out a piece clear contact shelf paper. I put this on the front of the container and trimmed it down to fit inside of the molded edge. Then I trimmed another piece to fit the design and put it inside the container so that there was no sticky edge. I hot glued an orange pipe cleaner around the edge so the grand-kids wouldn't try to pick at it and also hold the contact paper to the container.

Then I hot glued the lights to the inside of the the container around the outside of the container. The single light I glued to the top edge of the container, and also glued the last light to the top edge too. I put lots of glue on the cord to the battery box to stabilize it. Along the outside of the container you have to be careful as some of them are very thin and they bubble.

The top lid, a hole was drilled in the center. The lights had the center bar removed and a hole was drilled in the center of this. Then a hole was drilled into the end of the stem. A short drywall screw was put through the battery case, lid, and then the stem. This was tightened down to hold it all together.

When we set the container down, the stem on top made it top heavy. So glued the glass gems, for flower use, to the bottom of the container on the inside. I used between eight to ten per container.

The picture above will show you the stages of each one.
