Copperwire Art

My family has always been mechanically inclined. We originally came from Missouri where my roots came from farming and mechanics. My grandfather moved to Iowa and met my grandmother and the rest is history. My father carried on the tradition of being a mechanic and farming. This is where my dreams of crafts began. As kids, we would work and play out around the machinery or vehicles that my dad was working on. Several times, I would see copperwire in the engines or small motors. I loved this color. The shine on the wire was so unique and so shiny. During this time of growing up "String Art" was started. I did several of these as I grew up. My dream was doing the string art patterns with copperwire. I started tearing the small motors apart and saving the copperwire. After my marriage and children, mom asked me to start doing crafts. I knew what I wanted to do. I had carried my dream with me for all these years. I started buying the string art patterns and working on the designs. As the years progressed, so did the designs. In all of the 30+ years and many designs, this is the only one I know how many nails are on it. This pattern has 603 nails. In this picture you can see the color and shine of the wire. All of my designs are trimmed out, hand painted, and strung with copperwire. I also love using the copperwire as copperwire jewelry designer.
