Clothes Hanger Snowflakes

I saw several posts about the clothes hanger snowflakes. I didn't like the plastic hangers at all. I also wanted to be able to hang them outside in the cold weather with indoor/outdoor lights to last the winter. The plastic hangers would break in the cold weather. So I got several wire hangers and put them together.

I could bend the hangers to make the hangers fit tight. Each hanger could make a different design. I added two wire supports from extra hangers straightened out, on the back of each to make the design stiffer.

You can see the two cross pieces in the back that was added for extra support. I then used small zip ties to attaches the hangers together.
I knew the color of the zip ties wouldn't matter, because I was going to paint them.
With the bend end cut off for the extra hangers for supports, I made this for me hook to hang the snowflake.

I made two backwards hooks on the ends and hooked it on two of the curls on the back. I then bent it tight around the hanger curls. At the top of this hook, I zipped tied the hook to the support on the back.
I then started to zip tie the indoor/outdoor lights on them. I followed the design of the hangers, leaving parts with no lights. You can create your own design.
Then I took painters tape and wrapped all of the bulbs with the tape to keep the paint off of them.
I then took the snowflakes outside and painted them with Rustoleum paint to keep them from rusting. Below are the pictures after spray painting them white.

I spray painted them with several coats, making sure that every area was coated. On the last coating, I sprinkled glitter on the parts that I left for show with no lights.
When the paint was dried, I removed the painters tape. WARNING: If you pull out a light bulb, make sure that the wires are in the right place. I didn't do that and had to go through 200 lights to find the right bulb that was with wires out of place. Lesson learned.
After all of the painters tape was removed, I started to add the garland. I was sure to make sure the zip ties matched the garland. After the garland is put on, you can plug in the snowflake and see your hard work.

This is red and gold garland with white lights.
I hope this helps you create your snowflake.
