I wanted to make a tire swing for my grandchildren to enjoy. I got a tire from a used tire place, The grandchildren and I washed the tire with Dawn dish soap. We rinsed with warm water. We then let it air dry. We then painted the tire white. I painted it with light paint so the tire would be cool in the summer sun. Black absorbs heat so with white the tire would be cool. We used Rustoleum Oil Based Paint. The next day we added the second coat of white.
The next day we added the hand prints.

I had the grandchildren choose different paint. Then I went from the youngest to the oldest. I painted the tread different colors in the order of ages. The youngest I painted the inner ring to have her protected by the older children.

We drilled the holes and added the hardware. We used 3/8" eye bolt, and 3/8" fender washers above and below with 3/8" locking nuts. We then used 1/4" quick links. The pictures show the weight limits. We also attached a swivel at the top. Below are the pictures finished.

As soon as the paint is all dry, I know the grandchildren will have lots of hours of fun swinging.
