Stubbornness and Eating Habits of Our Lives

Yesterday we had our craft show in Fort Madison. I was talking about weight loss to several women. Several things were mentioned that I didn't realize about me.
One thing mentioned was stubbornness. How we don't want to give up our comfort food. I had to give up pop 100%. This was my comfort food when I had migraines. I have migraines 17 to 25 days a month and they are based on the weather. This weekend I have really suffered. The more severe the weather, the worse the migraine. I turned to chicken broth and peanut butter on soda crackers. How I would love some Sprite right now.
Weight loss is sacrifice. I gave up a lot of things to lose weight. But the sacrifice was worth it. The one lady mentioned she could never give up her pop so she went to diet pop. No this is worse for you. Check it out. If you want to lose weight, you have to find other comfort foods.
Also mentioned was eating habits. One lady eats twice a day the other three times a day. It is recommended five small meals a day. I ordered a walking taco for lunch. It took me two hours to eat it.
Then I did a bad thing. Yes I ordered a piece of strawberry pie. I know the calories was really high, but it took me two hours to eat this. I knew I would wear this off. We had to pack up all the merchandise and displays, go home and unload the two vehicles and put it in the basement. I weighed out the evil of that pie.I enjoyed that pie for two hours. One bite then pushed it away. A few minutes later another bite. I had them put it in a to go container and it was put in the cooler for a half hour. My question is this? How long does it take you to eat your meal? The more you chew and the longer it takes you to eat, the less you will eat. It also satisfies that craving you have. A normal person would of had that pie gone in a few minutes. I enjoyed it for two hours. I could of had whip cream or ice cream, I said no.
You have to change your habits and make the diet work for you. Those old habits have to disappear for you to lose weight. There are tricks and help out there for you.
Another thing was mentioned was size. When I went up to get the pie there was a heavy set guy ahead of me. He ordered two large taco meals. It was the full plate heaping up about five inches. He took this back to his booth to his heavy set wife. I remember those days. You tell yourself it is good for you because it is vegetables and meat. No that large serving isn't good for you. Even though it is vegetables and meat, it is more chips. You have to teach yourself to cut back on meal size. You have to take small helpings and eat smaller size helpings.
Only you can change your eating habits. So if you aren't losing weight on the diet you are on, look at what you are eating. The substance, size of servings, and how long it takes you to eat. Do you go back for seconds? I am still hungry. Give it 15 minutes before going back. Soon you will realize you are full.
I know I have fought many battles with myself. I have my demons. But each day I realize the difference. Last year I was huffing and puffing and soaking wet with sweat to load the van, unload, and set up the displays. This year it was a piece of cake. I did sweat a little bit, but it was so much easier and so much faster to get things done. I didnt have the 140 pounds to hold me back.
Have you ever asked yourself how much better your life would be if you lost your weight? My husband told me the other day, "When I look at you I see two things: a china doll or a bull, and you better get the hell out of the way she is coming through." Oh how this is true. Nothing slows me down now.
Each day I learn more about me and weight loss. I will finally say it publicly and voice my one Achilles heal through this all. The weight I am now, is the weight I was in high school. Muscles from being a farmers daughter and working the farm. I was called fat all my high school years. Now everyone tells me how great I look, I am amazing, wow. So my question is for four years in high school that I was called fat, was I fat? Some of the people who called me fat now compliments me. This is my dilemma over and over again. This is why I still see that fat person. I will get over this, but with each day I learn more about me.
I hope this helps someone on their journey. God bless you and good luck on your weight loss. I know you can do it.
